Finally Scrapbooking Halloween....

Now that the huge stress of the semester is over, I'm starting to work on several long awaited projects, which include my poor scrapbooks. So here, drum roll please, is page number one. (And can I say - as evident in these halloween photos- I have the sweetest husband ever!)

So I decided over break that it was finally time that I learned how to sew- especially since we now have an amazing sewing machine just ready to be used! My mom taught me the basics and I was able to make a bag... and then I made 3 more bags. As I was about to start the 4th, Mom suggested that maybe I try something a little more complicated. So I have moved on to project number 2- which happens to be Molly Monkey! I saw the pattern here at mmmcrafts a long time ago, but since I didn't know how to sew I could just enjoy the pretty pictures! I read the pattern, I sewed it and I now feel very accomplished! I am planning on sending it to my friend Leah, who just had a lil' baby girl! I think it turned out pretty, darn cute if I do say so myself!

My Dad sent Robin and I a webcam the other day! I've been playing around with it and think I have it all figured out. We're all set up with Skype, and its been a lot of fun so far! :-)

I spent my birthday monies on a sewing machine. It is wonderful. I will be starting to make all sorts of crafty fun-ness. I have used my Grandma's and my mother-in-law's machines to make things for our wedding, but I have never had my own. So this is a very exciting event. Robin and I have not had a sewing machine to use since moving to North Carolina, so this will help us a lot with future crafty projects! yay!

Probably about once a month Danny and I are in some type of extremely small area (picture the "small living" displays at Ikea) and Danny will ALWAYS remark "I could totally live in here!!" Combine that sentiment with his love of bicycles and I have found his perfect dwelling...

Robin got me some awesome b-day presents and we had an awesome day together! We went to our favorite sushi place in town that has an all-you-can-eat special for lunch with amazing miso soup and salads (along with kick-ass sushi, of course!). I was very excited about this dunny because there were a few that I really wanted and this was #1 on my list! Since it is from a blind box set, I could have gotten any of em, so I am super stoked! We hung out all day and it was excellent. She is my best friend and a super perfect wife! I love her. It is nice too because now we are both 27. She gets a little stressed for the six months when she is older than me! haha. We are now searching all around to find a good price on quality sewing machine that I can buy with birthday monies. :-) It is the one thing we don't have for our crafty adventures since we moved.

My Grandpa gave this to me a couple years ago. I love it. It is one of the coolest looking cameras. I love that there is no built-in flash, because the newer polaroids have the built-in flash which ruins the image for me. I have not actually even used this one with the flash, but I think it looks pretty darn sweet with it all attached like this. I have built up a fairly large collection of cameras. Some of them function and some do not (or I should say I cannot find and/or process film for them). Photography is just so very awesome.

Robin and I were featured in The Knot wedding magazine in their real weddings section! Check us out on their website or pick up a copy of the Ohio issue! We still get very excited about it. We loved our wedding. We worked together and utilized quite a few friends and family members to make it perfect for us. It was completely personalized. We handmade almost every aspect of the wedding, and we are so proud of the results! It was a beautiful day! :-)

Robin and I made caramel apples for Halloween while we watched some Office! We then watched Harry Potter while eating our apples and had a wonderful evening! :-) This was the second time this Fall we have made caramel apples, but we are okay with that. They are one of our favorite things. We go all out.

gocco frustrations slash the usual

I hadn't been planning on using the gocco to add color to this print. i was going to either keep it as an outline print, or hand color. I did hand color some to test out color combos and see how it looked. I did like some of the hand colored ones, but I wouldn't sell those ones. And the hand colored ones just didn't have the feel that I wanted, so I decided to use the gocco again to add color to the image. I know I went about the process backwards, because I did the outline first and then added the color blocks, so that makes it more difficult, but they are actually looking fairly nice. The problem is that I only had one set of lamps left, and they WILL NOT F-ING WORK! argh! very frustrating. I have 3 masters left, and I had one all aligned to make a screen for the next colors, but the lamps aren't cooperating. Robin and I looked all over the place online and cannot find lamps and masters for a good price. The seller we purchased from in the past has DOUBLED their prices. It is insane. I need to find gocco accessories at a reasonable price so I can finish this print. I was super stoked about how it was coming along, and then gocco troubles! I'll get it figured out I guess, but this is how it is looking for now!

Hello from North Carolina!

Robin and I have been in grad school for nine weeks now and we are loving it! It is a lot of work, but it's worth it! We love our apartment. The weather is lovely. Sorry we haven't been posting here like at all! I have been working a lot on my Flickr account, and we both spend a lot of time on facebook otherwise (too much time probably). :-p We have been spending a lot of time at the gym, working out on the ellipticals (sp.). We found a couple restaurants that are great, but there are so many in this town, we have our work cut out for us! Our favorite so far is a "fast food" hibachi place called Hibachi Xpress. So good. We both have been trying to keep up with our art and crafts. We are getting ready to have our etsy site refurbished and ready to go by this week! We are going to primarily focus on making/selling needle felted cake toppers, like the one from our wedding! We have been spending a lot of time decorating our apartment so it is totally "us". I finally found time to make a design that I turned into a gocco print! Robin and I really love it here, and we will try to stay on the ball with this blog! Hope everyone is well! On one of my days off I was able to go outside for a little bit and take some photos. Riley let me borrow a nice telephoto lense and a macro filter. It had been raining all day and five minutes after I came inside it rained some more. It was good timing. I think I got some pretty good shots. I am definitely ready for more nice weather. Of course it has been snowing the past couple days, so that sucks.

Hi everybody! It's Robin and Danny! (We are excited for our first post and to say hello.) This is one of Robin's cake toppers that she finished recently. She made it for a woman who's daughter is getting married. I personally (Danny) think it is one of the cutest and most crafty/talented/amazing things I have ever seen! ;-) Robin and I are trying to get going with lots of new artwork and craft projects! We will try to post more often from now on and we hope you enjoy our new blog! We will try to share tidbits from our lives so you can get to know us more or catch up with what we have been doing since we talked to you or saw you last!
